Ray A. Hill, 93, Webster City, a long-time Stanhope area farmer, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004 at the Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004 at the Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Suzie Moore officiating. There will be no visitation. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center has been entrusted with arrangements.

Ray Albert Hill, son of Leonard Sr. and Elnor Cottington Hill, was born Aug. 5, 1911 on a farm west of Stanhope. He was reared in the Stanhope area and graduated from Stanhope High School. On Nov. 7, 1933 he married Arlene N. Brock at Bethany, Mo. The couple farmed in the Stanhope area. He retired from farming in 1976. Mrs. Hill died on May 26, 1988. He had been residing at Southfield Wellness Community since January of 1995.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Phyllis Hill of Stanhope; daughter Elnor Ray Albert of Greeley, Colo.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Arlene, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Ray and Arlene spent many wonderful years in Texas. He loved playing cards, Bingo, listening to music and one of his favorite songs was "Waltz Across Texas."
