Roy Fankhauser, age 90, Webster City, died on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Blairsburg with Rev. John Wilson and Pastor Ernest Amstalden officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Surls Funeral Home in Williams is in charge of arrangements.

Roy was born Sept. 11, 1913 in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of Ed and Lydia Bechtel Fankhauser. He graduated from high school in Fredricksburg. He married Eleanor Heit on Dec. 26, 1938 at Lansing, Iowa. The couple resided in Blairsburg where Roy owned a DX Gas station. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945.

Roy is survived by his wife, Eleanor; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Beth of Blairsburg, Paul and Mary of Williams and James and Jan of Renwick, six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Bellentine.

Roy was a member of the United Church of Christ in Blairsburg and American Legion Post #191 in Webster City for over 50 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and his family.
