Alice Mason, 74, Webster City, died May 19, 1996 at the Hamilton County Public Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Wednesday until 9:30 a.m. Thursday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Alice Lucille Rieken, daughter of Ed and Sarah Black Rieken, was born March 2, 1922 in Crushing, Neb. She attended a rural school in Holt County, Neb. At the age of 10, she moved to O'Neil, Neb. She graduated from O'Neil High School in 1938. She moved to Webster City in 1941 and was employed at Woolworth's and Northwestern Bell. On Jan. 9, 1943 she married Jack M. Mason in Chicago, Ill. The couple farmed south of Highview. She was a homemaker until 1967, when she started working for Hamilton County Social Services as a secretary. The couple retired in 1981 and moved to Webster City.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Chris Mason, Webster City; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Mark Lemke, Grimes, Shelley and Bayerd Lande, Ankeny, Marjorie and Michael Smith, Jewell; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; brothers, Edwin Rieken, Harcourt, Marvin Rieken, Snohomish, Wash., sisters, Dorothy Miller, Colorado Springs, Colo., Doris Lee, Seattle, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Oral and Kenneth Rieken.

She served on the board of education of Asbury for several years, was a Sunday School teacher, was a volunteer at Hamilton County Public Hospital and was a member of the F.B. Club for over 50 years.
