Madella F. Wensel Caughran, 87, Springfield, Mo., died Thursday, August 5, 2004 in Christian Health Care East. Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Eastlawn Cemetery with Deacon Mike Steele officiating under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation is Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested to the Missouri Council of the Blind, 1202 Chateau, West Plains, Mo., 65775.

She was born in Webster City on Oct. 29, 1914, the daughter of W. Glenn and Iris Mabel Rutledge Miller. She was raised in Webster City where she graduated from high school. Following her graduation, she spent most of her working life in the retail shoe business with her first husband. After operating stores in several locations, she returned to Springfield in 1973.

Her first husband, Arthur T. Wensel, her second husband, Paul Caughran, two sons-in-law, James E. Kimler and William E. Beezley, and a grandson, Gary Lee Beezley, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, John Douglas "Jack" Wensel and wife Carole; two daughters, Constance Kimler and Deanna R. Beezley and her special friend Andy Anhorn, all of Springfield, a brother Maynard Miller and wife Arlene, Webster City; ten grandchildren, Matt M. Graif, J. Doug Wensel, Larry G. Beezley, Patti J. Sivils, Rebecca R. Killian, Randy T. Beezley, Jim E. Kimler II, Emily D. Weiskopf, Sandy R. Baughman and Rick W. Beezley, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
