LaVern George Glawe, 62, Blairsburg, died Monday, Oct. 3, at the Hamilton County Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Foster Funeral Home, the Rev. Raymond M. Roden officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Center Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 p.m. today until time of service Thursday.

LaVern George Glawe, son of Louis and Emma Kahlbaum Glawe, was born Jan. 1, 1926 in Read Township in Clayton County. He attended country schools in Read Township, and graduated from high school at Elkader. He served with the U.S. Navy from April 1944 to June 1946, when he returned to Elkader to operate a tavern and restaurant, later moving to Webster City.

He was employed with Franklin Manufacturing in 1948. He married Elnor Boswell on Jan. 12, 1950, in Webster City, and the couple continued to reside in Webster City. In 1976, they moved to Blairsburg. Mr. Glawe continued to work at Franklin Manufacturing until he retired in May 1984, due to ill health. He had resided at Crestview Manor in Webster City since May 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Elnor; two daughters, Laura (Mrs. Vic) Weisberg, Kamrar and Linda (Mrs. Floyd) Minard, Blairsburg; and one son, LaVern Glawe Jr., Oak Creek, Colorado. He is also survived by five grandsons, six granddaughters and two cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Mr. Glawe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City.
