Word has been received of the death of Gerald Dean Pringle, 87, Carroll, who died Tuesday, May 30 at the Carroll Health Center, following a long illness. He had lived at the health center for the past three years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Carroll, Rev. Marvin Arnprister officiating. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Visitation at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll is after 5 p.m. today and a Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by the Signet Masonic Lodge 264.

Gerald Dean Pringle, son of Andrew J. and Margueritte Olson Pringle, was born Feb. 6, 1905 near Webster City. He was a graduate of Webster City High School, and graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids in 1928, with a degree in commerce and finance.

He married Bertine Bergstresser on June 21, 1940 in Indianola. He worked as an income tax consultant, real estate broker and insurance agent. He worked several years for the Internal Revenue Service, then started his own business in Carroll in 1943 and was active in business until ill health forced his retirement in 1978.

Mr. Pringle is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Marcia Pringle, Urbandale; two granddaughters, Lisa and Ashley; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn L. and Lucille Pringle, Chicago, Ill.; sister Inez Ferrell, Ames; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife on April 26, 1989; his parents and two brothers, Virgil and Forrest.

Mr. Pringle was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men; the Elks Lodge, Elks Chorus; Signet Masonic Lodge 264 A.F. & A.M.; and Chamber of Commerce.
