Lillian Gumtau, 86, Boone, died Monday, June 21, 2004 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of the Eastern Star at Boone, with Dr. Ron Franklin of the Central Christian Church at Boone officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at Webster City. Visitation will be at the Eastern Star Masonic Home one hour before the service.

Lillian Alberta Sigler, daughter of Oliver and Mary Richardson Sigler, was born April 24, 1918 at Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City school system, graduating from Lincoln High. On Nov. 25, 1937 she married Robert Henry Gumtau at Stanhope. She worked for Dr. Galloway at Stanhope until 1940. The Gumtau's and Herb Granville joined in the operation of a grocery store in Stanhope in 1944. The Gumtau's sold out to Herb and moved to Webster City and started Bob's Korner Market. They moved to Boone and operated the Superette Grocery which they sold in 1956 and started farming in Boone County, south of Stanhope. In 1959, they rented the farm out and opened Bob's Quality Market in Stanhope. They sold their farm in 1980 and moved to Boone, then to Webster City and then back to Boone in 1997. They had resided at the Eastern Star Masonic Home for the past two years.

Mrs. Gumtau is survived by her husband, Robert; granddaughter and husband, Diana and Steve Wilkey of Gretna, Neb., grandson, Jeff Peterson of Willis Point, Texas; son-in-law Geryle Peterson of Osceola; great-grandchildren, Dan and Amy Wilkey of Gretna, Neb.; Kristeen Peterson of Wills Point, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Peterson in 2002; grandson Craig Peterson in 1961; her parents; stepfather, Harry Fitzlaff.

She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Boone.

Memorials may be given to the Central Christian Church or the Eastern Star Masonic Home.
