Odette Kastler, 97, Woolstock, died Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Crestview Senior Living in Webster City. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City with Rev. Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be in the French Cemetery east of Woolstock. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the services on Wednesday.

Odette Kastler, daughter of George and Mary Schoenenberger Kastler, was born Sept. 18, 1906 on a farm east of Woolstock. She attended rural schools in that area and graduated from the Eagle Grove high school. She taught in several rural schools near Woolstock until 1955. For 21 years, she was postmaster at Woolstock, retiring in 1976. She continued to reside at Woolstock.

Odette is survived by her adopted sons, Robert Kastler and wife Marilyn; Yale Kastler, all of Woolstock; nieces and nephews, Carol and his wife Marlene Kastler, Mason City, Larry and wife Darlene Kastler of Woolstock; Gerry and his wife Jeanette Kastler of El Paso, Texas; Kenny Kastler of Ocala, Fla; Marian Galloway of Phoenix, AZ; and Marilyn Kastler, Mazeppa, Minn.

She was preceded in death by an adopted daughter, JoAnne Nauman Kastler, brothers; Verne, Robert, Donald, Clarence and Edward Kastler; nephew Richard Kastler.

She was a member of the Woolstock United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Wright County 4-H Leader; and she helped to start the Woolstock Willing Workers Club. She was a member of Ban Da La Roche and the American Legion Auxiliary for 57 years.
