Donald L. Powell, son of Riley and Bernice Daniels Powell, was born May 24, 1937 at Dayton. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, attending Lehigh and Webster City Schools.

Donald enlisted in the United States Army in 1956 and served in Korea after the war. On April 11, 1959 he married Sandra L. Larson at Princeton, Mo. Donald lived in Webster City, Eagle Grove and then Goldfield for 16 years. He worked as a long-distance truck driver, retiring in 1999.

Donald was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved his grandchildren and fixing their toys. Donald also enjoyed fishing, gardening and plowing fields in the fall for his son-in-law.

Donald LeRoy Powell passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2004 at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion at the age of 66 years. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister, Dorothy, brothers Gene and Russell and three infant brothers.

He is survived by his wife Sandra, Goldfield, 4 daughters, Crystal Pepples-Powell of Scranton, Becky Krull of Clarion, Pam Ellis and husband Joel of Goldfield and Heather Christensen and husband Kevin of Goldfield, one son, Randy Powell, and friend Susie Evans of Scranton, 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, 2 sisters, Diane Burgin of Crivitz, Wis., and Bonnie Weise of Athelstane, Wis., and one brother, Deal Powell and wife Peggy of Webster City.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield with Rev. James Seibert officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
