Dee A. Lenz, of Webster City, died April 21, 2004 at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. Services will be Friday, April 23 at 7 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City with the Rev. Doug Tiffany officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Dunkerton at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Fort Dodge.

Dee is survived by her husband Roger; sons, Dan Lenz and Ryan Lenz, both of Des Moines, daughters Cara Lenz, Des Moines, Liza (Scott) Torborg, Rochester, Minn., granddaughters, Grace Elizabeth Torborg and Marta Mae Torborg, her father Earl (Norma) Bartholomew, Dunkerton, her sisters Leta (John) Riordan, Westgate, IA., Marcia (Rich) Young, Dubuque, Elaine Clark, Waterloo, Jeanette (Jim) Grady, Waterloo, Lois (Lynn) Dangelser, Franksville, Wis., her mother-in-law Marjorie Lenz, her brother-in-law Fred Lenz, Watertown, Minn., and 18 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Bartholomew, her father-in-law, Lester Lenz, and one nephew.

Dee Ann Bartholomew, the daughter of Earl and Irene Newsome Smith Bartholomew, was born Dec. 5, 1943 in Waterloo. She graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1962 and received her bachelor's degree in education from Upper Iowa University at Fayette in 1966. On Nov. 22, 1969 she was united in marriage to Roger Lenz at the First Baptist Church in Dunkerton. They lived in Eldora from 1969-1974, Grundy Center from 1974-1983, Jefferson from 1983-1994 and moved to Webster City in 1994.

Dee loved to teach. She enriched the lives of students and staff at West Central of Maynard, Eldora Community, YJB (Jamaica) and Panorama.

Dee was happiest spending time with her sisters, her children, her husband, father and granddaughters. She was very active in various church activities including Bible studies, teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, prayer groups and church leadership. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, quilting and talking on the phone to her sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School Program or to the Panorama Community Schools Elementary Library.
