Blanche Johnson, 91, Story City, died March 19, 2004 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in the Story City Cemetery.

Blanche Orvella (Hanson) Johnson was born Dec. 2, 1912, south of Stratford to David and Bertha (Enderson) Hanson. She married Leslie S. Johnson on Oct. 12, 1932 at her parents home. To this union, three sons were born. Blanche was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her acts of kindness. She spent 3 1/2 years at Stratford Rehabilitation and Care Center in Stratford.

She is survived by three sons, Marvin and wife Mary Jo of Stratford, Darrell and wife Linda of Omaha, Neb., and Rodney and wife Judy of Cedar Falls, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, three sisters, Gladys Williams of Jewell, Irene Alvestad of Gladbrook and Illa Mae Barrington of Muscatine, a brother, Donald Hanson of Roland.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Aug. 4, 1992, and three sisters, Elaine Olson, Betty Jane Tegland and Bernice Hove.

Visitation will be Monday after 3 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral home in Story City.
