Joann Hokel, 68, Webster City, died Monday, March 8, 2004 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City with Reverends John Grebner and Doug Tiffany to officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home in Webster City.

Joann Kirstine Steege, daughter of Glen and Ellen (Villadsen) Steege, was born on July 5, 1935 at Clear Lake. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1953. On March 7, 1954 she married Harold G. Hokel at Clear Lake. The couple resided in Webster City. Mrs. Hokel was employed in past years at the As You Like It Gift Shop and the Hallmark Store, both in Webster City.

In addition to her husband, Harold, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Karl and Vicki Hokel of Webster City, Kyle and Kim Hokel of Sheboygan, WI and Kurt Hokel of Shawnee, KS., two granddaughters, Megan and Tiffanee Hokel, brother, Keith Steege and sister, Alice Nielsen, both of Clear Lake.

Mrs. Hokel's activities included, The Webster City Hospital Auxiliary, member and past president of the Women of the W.E.L.C.A. of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also a Sunday School teacher and member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir and Mary Martha Church Women's Circle. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and needle working.
