Bessie Hanson, 88, Clarion, a former Eagle Grove resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 at the USA Healthcare in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation will be two hours before the service.

Bessie Coral Hanson, daughter of Herman and Evelyn Kluge Burres, was born Dec. 4, 1912 at Elmore, Minn. She received her education at Deer Creek, Minn. She worked at Ironwood, Mi. On August 25, 1947 she married Earl D. Hanson at Princeton, Mo. The couple farmed in the Kamrar and Woolstock areas. In 1969, they moved to Webster City. She had worked at the Ellsworth turkey plant, the Eagle Grove poultry plant and had done housekeeping in the Webster City area. Mr. Hanson died on Oct. 31, 1982. She resided in Eagle Grove for several years and had resided at the care center for the past 1 1/2 years.

She is survived by step-sons Milford Hanson of Grundy Center, Alfred Hanson of Iowa Falls; step daughter, Esther Kitner, Cedar Falls, several step-grandchildren, sisters, Edna Ruter, Grand Rapids, Minn., Mildred Johnson of Eagle Grove, brothers, Helmer Burres of Brainerd, Minn., Everett Burres of Eagle Grove, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Norman Burres.
