Geneva Schweppe, 85, Webster City, a former Jewell resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2000 at Hamilton Hospital. Graveside services were held Friday at Liberty Center Cemetery south of Blairsburg with Rev. Jerry Sawyer officiating. Following the services, family members received friends at the United Federated Church in Jewell.

Pearl Geneva Pollock, daughter of Edward and Zella Hartley Pollock, was born Feb. 14, 1915 on a farm south of Webster City. She attended rural schools and Webster City High School. On Feb. 14, 1933, she married Melford W. Schweppe at South Sioux City. The couple farmed southwest of Webster City. She had been employed as a nursing assistant at the Hamilton Hospital for 16 years. They moved to Jewell in 1980. She had resided at Crestview Manor for the past year.

She is survived by her husband, Melford, daughter and son-in-law, Coleen and Donald McNair of North Liberty; daughter-in-law, Barbara Schweppe, Webster City; grandchildren, Wade McNair, Michael and Bradley Schweppe, Pam Stangeland; six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ronald Schweppe in October of 1999, sisters, Faye Pollock and Frieda Williams.

She was a member of the United Federated Church of Jewell and was involved in church activities.
