Fred E. Brown, 93, Rochester, NY, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000 at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Brown was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Private burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral home.

Fred Esteol Brown, son of Fred and Josephine Carpenter Brown, was born Sept. 1, 1907 at Woolstock. He attended Vernon rural school at Renwick and graduated from Renwick high school. He also attended a business school. For three years, he worked in the grocery business in Arnolds Park. On May 23, 1935 he married Ruth Rummens at Marion. The couple resided in Waterloo, where he was employed in the John Deere Component Works as a machinist and then senior tour guide. In December of 1994, he moved to California, then in May of 1995 to Rochester. Mrs. Brown died Oct. 31, 1994.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, MaryLynn and Dr. Morton Miller, Rochester, NY., Sandra and Owen Nelson, Las Vegas, NV., Judy Cunningham of Panorama City, Calif.; grandchildren Marcus, Heath and Carl Miller, Neil and Naren Nelson, Daniel Cunningham; sister, Faye Trimble of Cherokee.
