Genevieve Ruth Lafferty, 81, Visalia, Calif., died August 22, 2000. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Visalia, Calif. A reception will follow. Arrangements were made by the Miller Memorial Chapel in Visalia, Calif.

Genevieve Ruth Jansen, the daughter of Fred and Emma Jansen, was born in Webster City on March 8, 1919. She graduated from Webster City High School and married Lester Leon "Scoop" Miller on Nov. 24, 1938 at the Methodist Church in Webster City. He preceded her in death Jan. 3, 1941 due to diptheria. She then married Ronald Dale Lafferty in Missouri on Dec. 7, 1943. The couple moved to San Fernando, Calif. in 1951 and then settled in Visalia, Calif. in 1961. She was employed by the Secret Service Board and later was a typist for the State of California for eight years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Visalia and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors are her husband, Ronald, Visalia, Calif., a son, Lanny A. Lafferty, Carpinteria, Calif., a brother, Kenneth Jansen of Longmont, Colo., two grandchildren, Kevin Lafferty of Goleta, Calif., and Christina M. DiCicco, Rohnert Park, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Gabriela Lafferty, Goleta, Calif. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Jansen Smith and Opal Jansen Lieb.
