Bertha “Betty” Ratcliff Hill, 97, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Marian Home.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge. Interment services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Betty is survived by her children, Pam Nelson, Oxford, MS; Duane (Denise) Hill, Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Todd Nelson, Tuscaloosa, AL; Allyson (Leo) Carmody, Oxford, MS; Kevin (Mary Reagan) Nelson, Ohatchee, AL; Andrew (Joua) Nelson, Bethlehem, GA; Jennifer (Ricky) McIlrath, Fort Dodge; five stepgreat-grandchildren, Connor Bruns, Denver, CO; Benny Bruns, Morgan Bruns, Logan McIlrath and MacKenzie McIlrath, all of Fort Dodge. two great-grandchildren, Trey Nelson, Camp Lejeune, NC; John Carmody, Oxford, MS. She was preceded by her parents, her husband William, grandsons, Eric Nelson and Jeremy Bruns, and several siblings.

Betty Ratcliff, the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Huisinga) Ratcliff, was born March 1, 1925, on a farm near Woolstock. She graduated from Webster City High School. On November 25, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to William D. “Bill” Hill in Webster City. They moved to Fort Dodge in 1956, where she was a homemaker and raised her family.

Betty enjoyed sewing, embroidery, cooking, baking, and making sweets. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Betty enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones, Alabama Crimson Tide and especially the Fort Dodge Dodgers.
