William (Bill) Schnell, 66, of Clarion, IA, died at his home on Sunday, July 3, 2022. Visitation will be at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 11:30 AM -1:15 PM, followed by a Memorial service at 1:30 PM.

Bill was born on October 23, 1955, in Webster City, Iowa to Merlyn and Delma (Ellefson) Schnell. He attended the Webster City schools, and went on to get his Paramedic Degree. Bill married JoAnn H. Helmke on April 26, 2003, in Alden Iowa.

Bill worked as a Paramedic Specialist at the Hamilton County Hospital for over 20 years, and then worked as a Corrections Officer at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility for one year before returning to the hospital. After his retirement from the hospital, he worked part time at Electrolux in the nurse’s station. He also served with the Police Reserves.

Bill was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City, Iowa, the NRA, and a prior member of the IEMSA. He had an avid interest in anything EMS/First Responder, military related and the history of America. In his free time Bill enjoyed target shooting, wild west and war movies and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Bill’s family includes his wife JoAnn H. Schnell; daughter Valerie Schnell of Ft. Dodge, IA; granddaughter Imani Shufford of Eagle Grove; stepsons: Josh (Mandy) Lippolt and their children Ava, Kimber and Liam of Hardy, IA; Dustin (Ashley) Flatebo and their children Gage and Holden, of Kamrar; brother: Tim (Kim) Schnell, of Parkersburg, IA; son-in-law Eddie Shufford of Eagle Grove, IA; aunts: Marcia Dayton and Ruth Norris; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jennifer Schnell; stepdaughter Andrea Reed; step son-in-law Michael Reed; step granddaughter Isabel Reed; and several aunts and uncles.

Memorials may be designated to the local EMS/First Responders of your choice.
