Susan Kay Van Langen, 73, of Tucson, Arizona passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at Atria Campana Del Rio Assisted Living on April 17, 2022. Susan was born in Webster City, Iowa on February 4, 1949 to Donald and Helen Passwaters. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1967. On September 25, 1971 she was united in marriage to Rick Van Langen in Webster City.

Susan and Rick had two children together, Ryan and Wendee. In 1983, Susan and Rick would make their journey to Tucson, Arizona, where they would spend the rest of their lives together until Rick’s sudden passing in 2008. Susan loved to be a stay-at-home mom and be the house where all the kids would come to play after school. She was highly involved in Little League baseball and softball, spending countless hours at Arthur Pack Ballpark, where she ran the snack bar for years. Susan was admittingly a “social butterfly.” She was everyone’s friend and loved to make people laugh with her dry and often sarcastic sense of humor. Susan was an avid sports fan. Whether watching her grandkids play sports or yelling at the TV, watching her Iowa Hawkeyes or Arizona Wildcats, she was a true sports fanatic! She was also an animal lover. Every animal that was loved by Susan was also spoiled rotten by Susan. She wouldn’t have it any other way.

Susan left this earth, into eternal life to be with her loving husband, Rick. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Don and Helen Passwaters. She is survived by her children, Ryan (April) and Wendee, as well as her two brothers, Bob (Brigitte) and Chuck (Pam). Grandma Susan will be dearly missed by her three grandkids, Elizabeth, Hayden and Riley and niece and nephew Lindsay and Shane. Susan also had countless friends who touched her life, who will miss her unwavering friendship. Last, but certainly not least, she will be missed by her loving cat, Alice, who was her constant companion throughout the last days of her life .
