Ethel Joan Remley Weeks, 78, Perry, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the Perry Health Care Center in Perry. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Duane LaCock officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Ethel Joan Remley, daughter of Robert and Ethel Guthrie Remley, was born Nov. 30, 1924 at Webster City. She graduated from Webster City Senior High School, received her BA from the University of Iowa, and her MA from the University of Colorado in Boulder. On June 24, 1948, she married Harvey Weeks at Webster City. They resided in California from 1949 until 198 [?] when they moved to Long Beach, Wash. In 2000, they moved to Astoria, Ore., and from Astoria to Perry Health Care Center. Mr. Weeks died April 1, 2002.

Mrs. Weeks is survived by her daughters, Janey Spangler and her husband Gary Wolfe of Dawson; Deborah Tessmann of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mattson of Norwalk; Charles Spangler of Greeley, Colo., Brandi Harris of San Diego, Calif.; several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Steven Turk Harris.

She was a member of the PEO, and a former member of the AAUW.

Memorials may be directed to the Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
