Maxine Bickford, 88, Webster City, died Monday, June 9, 2003 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Revs. Mike Morgan and Steve Shelley officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home and after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Edna Maxine Julius, daughter of Sieben and Florence Calkins Julius, was born Jan. 16, 1915 at Webster City. She attended Webster City schools and graduated from Webster City High School in 1933. She also attended Webster City Junior College for a year. On May 14, 1938 she married Neil Eldon Bickford at Forest City. The couple resided in Webster City. She had been employed at the Webster City swimming pool, Hahne Printing, and as a bookkeeper for Bickford Plumbing. Mr. Bickford died Sept. 2, 1998. She had resided at Crestview Senior Living since 1996.

Mrs. Bickford is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Yvonne Bickford of Estes Park, Colo., daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Sherman Schroder of Cedar Rapids and Sue and Jon Doolittle of Webster City; grandchildren, Janna Axline of Cedar Rapids, Jeff Bickford of Newberry, Calif., Brad Schroder of Kansas City, Mo., Dan Doolittle and Kendall Doolittle, both of Webster City; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Scott Bickford, and brother, Russell Julius.

She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, was a former Girl Scout leader and enjoyed camping.
