Raymond E. Wilson, 88, Webster City, died Thursday, May 29, 2003 at his home. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ with Pastors Ray Artrip and Richard Laird officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery.

Raymond E. Wilson, son of Samuel and Hattie Eaton Wilson, was born July 8, 1914 on a farm northeast of Webster City in Cass Township. He received his education in the Sunnyside rural school, northeast of Webster City. He started farming with his father. On Dec. 18, 1941 he married Georgine LaVonne Jutte at Bethany, Mo. The couple farmed northeast of Webster City, then in 1944 they moved to a farm west of Webster City where they resided for 19 years. In 1963, they moved to a farm west of Webster City where they resided for 19 years. He also operated a corn shelling business in the Webster City area for several years. The couple retired to Webster City in 1982. Georgine Wilson died on Feb. 13, 1993. On Sept. 2, 1994, he married Joy Hanson Briggs at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Joy; sons and daughters-in-law, Roxy and Linda Wilson of West Des Moines; Randy and B.J. Wilson of Webster City; grandchildren, Wendy and Lori Wilson of Des Moines; step-children, Judy Holdgrafer, Mike and Barb Briggs of Webster City; step-grandchildren, Jeff Holdgrafer and Rachel Briggs, all of Webster City; Heath Briggs of Fort Dodge; sisters Eula Emery of Des Moines; Edna Estlund of Webster City; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Homer, Charles, Allen, Vernon, James and Wayne Wilson, twin sisters in infancy.

He was a member of Church of Christ, Senior Citizens Club, and his hobbies included bowling, horseshoes and playing pool. He was a state corn-husking champion during 1938 and 1939.
