Dorothy Hanson, 84, of Webster City, passed away Wednesday, April 30 at the Stratford Nursing Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2nd at Bruce's Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Granger officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Dorothy Emma, the daughter of Ernest "E.R." and Marie (Portz) Thompson, was born November 13, 1918 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She received her education from the Fort Dodge Public School system. After her schooling she worked for a local law firm. While living in Fort Dodge she enjoyed singing in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church Choir. She was united in marriage to Mervin Hanson on August 6, 1950. The couple made their home in Webster City. Dorothy was a very avid homemaker. She also enjoyed singing in the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir in Webster City. She loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Pam Boyington and her husband Mick of Eagle Grove, Iowa; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother who passed away at the age of 100, her husband Mervin on February 13, 1996, and one sister JoAnn Rae.
