Ron Dilley, 56, of Stratford, a former Webster City resident, died Sunday, April 27, 2003 at the Stratford Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Rev. John Flaherty, celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Vietnam Veterans of America, chapter 861, and American Legion Post #191.

Ronald Eugene Dilley, son of Wilbur and Anna Hughes Dilley, was born Feb. 25, 1947 at Webster City. He received his education in Webster City schools and graduated in 1965. In September of 1966, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, his basic training was at Fort Hood, Texas. He trained with the 1st/50th Mechanized Infantry. In 1967, he was sent to Vietnam with the First Air Cavalry and later was wounded and returned home in July of 1968. At the age of 14, he started in the grocery business, first as a carryout and stock boy for Red Owl, then worked at Dunn's Super Valu, Steve's Super Valu, and for the past five years, he had worked at HyVee as produce manager.

Mr. Dilley is survived by his mother, Anna Dilley of Webster City, brother, Richard Dilley of Webster City; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Gary Jensen of Callender; nieces, Angie Dilley of Webster City, Jolene Rude of Grimes and Kimberly Sandgren of Callender; five great-nephews and two great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur, and nephew, Michael Jensen, several aunts and uncles.
