Jeffrey Scott Lehman, 44, Webster City, died Friday, April 11, 2003 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Revs. John Grebner and Doug Tiffany officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Monday and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Jeffrey Scott Lehman, son of Harley and Esther Olson Lehman, Jr., was born Dec. 27, 1958 in Britt, Iowa. The family lived in Titonka at the time and in 1963, moved to New Hampton where they lived for 4 years. In 1967, the family moved to Webster City. Jeff received his education at Webster City Schools, and graduated from Webster City High School in 1977. He attended Iowa Central Community College for 2 years, the University of Northern Iowa for one year and graduated from Iowa State in 1982 with a degree in accounting. He was employed at Nissen's Meat Processing in Webster City, prior to relocating to Sarasota, Fla. in 1983. While in Florida, he was employed as an apprentice accountant for Wellcraft Boat Company and later transferred to Winn-Dixie Grocery Warehouses. He returned to Webster City in 1993 due to his illness. Prior to hospitalization on March 6, he had been living at USA Healthcare Nursing Home in Urbandale since Sept. 2002.

Survivors are his mother; brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Heidi Lehman of Dallas, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and Andrew Claude of West Des Moines, Valerie and Richard Rickert of Beach Park, Il; and Kristin and Don McKee of Webster City; nieces and nephews, Katherine, Willis and Evan Claude, Harleigh and Kyra McKee, and Brady Lehman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Lehman, Jr., grandparents Oscar and Mildred Olson and Harley and Esther Lehman, Sr.

Jeff loved life and lived it to the fullest and had many and varied interests. During high school, Jeff was active in football, band and baseball. After high school, he participated in the Emerald Knights and Silver Spectrum Drum and Bugle Corps. He was an avid fisherman and loved to canoe the Boone River.

While he was ill, Jeff maintained an interest in car racing, cooking, sports and reading, and was able to begin the restoration of two old cars. Jeff lived long enough to know several of his nieces and nephews, and loved planning for family gatherings.
