Gene Chadwick, 75, Scottsburg, Ind., a former Webster City resident, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at the Scott Memorial hospital in Scottsburg. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church. American Legion Post No. 191 of Webster City will conduct graveside military rites.

Gene Riley Chadwick, son of John and Myra Kough Chadwick, was born Feb. 1, 1927 at Rockford, Ill. He received his education in the Des Moines school system, graduating from Des Moines Technical High School. During W.W. II he served with the U.S. Navy-occupational forces in Japan. On August 20, 1950, he married Gretchen Louise Wheeler at Boone. The couple resided at Boone and he worked with his father at the Boone Electric Motor Company. In 1958, they moved to Webster City. He had worked at Paul Electric in Fort Dodge for several years. He retired in 1989. Mrs. Chadwick died June 27, 1992. He had resided with his daughter for the past two months.

Mr. Chadwick is survived by son, Rev. Dan Chadwick of Erie, Pa., daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Jene and Rev. Bruce Bridgewater of Scottsburg, Ind., grandchildren, Jessica, Claire and Kolina Chadwick, all of Erie; brother Wayne Chadwick of Des Moines; sister, Janet Keigley of Bella Vista, Ark., several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rex Chadwick.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Webster City, had attended the Bethel Baptist church at Leota, Ind., American Legion Post #191 of Webster City; and the Kiwanis Club at Webster City.
