Harry M. Wearda, 97, Webster City, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home and prior to services at the church.

Harry Martin Wearda, son of Montje and Anna (Wenger) Wearda, was born May 12, 1905 at McClain County, Illinois. He attended Union School, Freedom Township, in Hamilton County. After his education, he started farming three miles southwest of Webster City. On Sept. 6, 1934 he married Viola Beatrice Elkin at Webster City. The couple continued farming until his retirement in 1993. Mrs. Wearda died Aug. 9, 2000.

Mr. Wearda is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Merle Heinzeroth of Alden, Marlene and Wayne Jackson of Webster City, Phyllis and Bruce McConnell of Littletown, Colo, son Robert Wearda of Winter Park, Colo., nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife, Viola, he was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorene Stein, brothers Charles, William and Edward Wearda, and one grandson, Tom Heinzeroth.

Harry was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Men's Club, Dart Ball Team and Board of Trustees within the church. He was a former member of the Community Coop Board of Directors and Union School, School Board. Harry was also involved with the Square Dance Club and 500 Club of Webster City.
