Nellebell (Chris) Newby, 79, Venice, Fla., died at her residence Nov. 2, 2002. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Venice, Fla. Inurnment will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Garden. Donations to her memory may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 800 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, Fla., 34285 or Friends of the Jacaranda Public Library (Tribute Fund) at 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd., Venice, Fla. 34293.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1923 at Pittsburg, Penn., and came to Venice, Fla. from Webster City in 1990. She was a teachers aid at Webster High School for 8 years. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Bell Choir in Venice, Fla., and a veteran of WWII, U.S. Marine Corp. She was a volunteer at Jacaranda Library, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Pittsburgh, Penn.

Survivors are her daughter, Patti Heath, Sarasota, Fla., and her son, Dan Leroy Newby, Crescent, Iowa; a sister, Virginia Grace Mathews of Venice, Fla., and two grandchildren.

Arrangements are made by the Farley Funeral Home and Crematory, Venice Chapel.
