Nellie J. Hansen, 99, Eagle Grove, formerly of Webster City, died Saturday, July 13, 2002 at the Rotary Ann Home at Eagle Grove. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, Webster City, with Pastor Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be in the French Cemetery east of Woolstock. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Nellie Julia Malaise, daughter of Edmund and Mary Mourlam Malaise, was born Oct. 22, 1902 at Woolstock. She received her education from the Woolstock Township School. On January 26, 1926 she married Charles Franklin Hansen at Webster City. The couple farmed in Wright County for eight years, moving to a farm west of Webster City in 1934. Mr. Hansen died May 29, 1961. She later moved to Webster City entering Southfield Wellness Community in 1993. In 1997, she moved to the Rotary Ann Nursing Home.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vera Mae and Duane Burtnett of Webster City, daughter-in-law, Mary (Vonnie) Hansen, also of Webster City; 10 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Margaret Opheim of Webster City, Rose Malaise of Fort Dodge; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by her son Gary Hansen, both parents, brothers, Chuck, Clarence, Rayner, Mike, Donald and Bill Malaise and her sister, Maude Evans.

Mrs. Hansen was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City and volunteered her time with R.S.V.P., Webster City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
