Roy C. Nelson, 84, Jewell, died July 11, 2002 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Federated United Church of Christ or Israel Family Hospice House piano fund. Neptune Cremation Society is in charge of arrangements.

Roy C. Nelson was born in Ellsworth and had been a lifelong resident of Jewell. He was a World War II veteran of the 94th Division of the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Sawyer-Nelson Ford dealership in Jewell. He retired in 1979 and had spent summers at the family cabin at Clear Lake and winters in the Rio Grande Valley at Mission, Texas.

Mr. Nelson was a member of the Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell, Kohinoor Lodge #576, A.F. & A.M. of Story City, American Legion Post #550, Jewell Golf and Country Club, Jewell, Morning Coffee Club, Jewell, Bell Harbor Home Owners Association, Clear Lake and Valley View Estates, Mission, Texas.

Survivors are his wife, Eileen, Jewell, sons, Douglas R. Nelson, Sioux Falls, S.D., James O. Nelson, Story City and daughter, Judy K. Galles, Pegosa Springs, Colo., 10 grandchildren.
