Velma Nadine Grandgeorge was born July 29, 1909 at Woolstock, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Ridgeway and Alice Elizabeth (Wheeler) Norcross. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth.

On Oct. 17, 1931 Velma was united in marriage with Charles T. Grandgeorge at Galena, Ill. The couple farmed southwest of Webster City until 1966 when they retired and moved to rural Woolstock. Charles preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1986. Velma moved to Southfield Wellness Community in May 2002.

Velma was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Webster City.

Velma passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2005 at the Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City, at the age of 95 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her three children: Charlotte Finch, Webster City; Richard Grandgeorge and wife Lorene of Eagle Grove; and Phyllis and husband Jack Hill of Stanhope; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Webster City with Pastors Doug Tiffany and John Grebner officiating. There will be a visitation two hours prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in the French Cemetery, Woolstock. Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
