Damon H. "Bud" Smith, 81, of Webster City, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Hamilton Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 11, 2005 at the First Congregational U.C.C. Church with Rev. Howard Hunt officiating. Bud's wishes were to be cremated. Burial of the ashes will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Foster Funeral & Cremation Center has been entrusted with arrangements.

Damon H. Smith, son of Harold and Naome Marsh Smith was born on January 6, 1924 at Webster City. He received his education and graduated from Webster City Senior High school in 1941. He attended Iowa State University for two years before serving his country in the U.S. Army 1880th Engineers Aviation Batillion during W.W. II. Bud enjoyed over a forty year career as a purser for the military sealift command. After his retirement, he returned to Webster City where he was active in delivering Meals on Wheels. Bud is survived by his nephews, David Smith of Seattle, WA., George Smith of Decatur, GA.; sister-in-law, Jean Burnett of Orange Beach, AL.; and a host of close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; fiance Phyllis (Phee) Bruner and brother Jack Smith.

Bud was an avid sailor on his sailboat "The Lady Bug". He enjoyed taking anybody sailing. He was a member of the First Congregational U.C.C. Church and was a past president of the Boy Scouts Troop #17 of Webster City. His memberships also included, American Legion Post #191 and Acacia Lodge #176 - A.F. & A.M., both of Webster City. He was also a lifetime member of the U.S. Power Squadrons.
