Ann Doherty, age 68 of Boone, died May 11, 2005 at the University Hospitals in Iowa City. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Ann was born February 19, 1937 in Webster City, the daughter of Clifford and Muriel (Wills) Neese. She graduated from Stanhope High School in 1955 and on November 3, 1962 she married Dan Doherty in Stanhope. Ann was a real estate broker and owner of Central Iowa Real Estate in Boone. Ann enjoyed cooking, baking sugar cookies, genealogy, sewing, ceramics and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Mary Elizabeth Doherty, 2 brothers Darrell "Dode" and Clifford "Dale" Neese. She is survived by her husband Dan of Boone; a son Mike Doherty and wife Lori of Oxford; a daughter Kelli Bennett and husband Fred of Boone; 2 sisters Carol Wightman of Ames and Helen Carlson of Boone; 3 granddaughters Elizabeth Matthies and husband Ben and Kathy Boon and husband Ryan all of Boone and Makayla Doherty of Oxford; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone on Friday from noon until 9 p.m. where the family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.

Memorials may be given to the Stanhope Parish Church in Stanhope or the University Hospitals Bone Marrow Transplant Program in Iowa City.
