Carroll Hansel, 73, passed away March 15, 2005 from a short illness of lung cancer and congestive heart failure.

He was born in Ellsworth, Iowa, Dec. 12, 1931. His family moved to Williams and farmed. After graduation, he joined the Navy in 1951. He was stationed in California and when discharged in 1955, he decided to stay. In 1959 he opened A-C Auto Sales in South Gate, Calif., and continued his business until his illness. Carroll was a very respected car salesman that everyone enjoyed doing business with. Carroll was a very dedicated family man and he enjoyed his grandchildren immensely, taking them everywhere. He was an avid fisherman and traveling the lakes of California with his wife and his boat was one of his greatest passions.

Carroll is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Janice Black of Webster City; two sons, Kevin and Mark Hansel, and daughter Lisa Abdon. He is also survived by two grandsons and a granddaughter, Brandon Hansel, Christopher Abdon and Ashley Abdon; his brother Robert Hansel of Williams, Gerald Hansel of Hubbard; and sister Shirley Evans of Ellsworth; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held April 1 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in South Gate, Calif, 2 p.m.
