Albert Guhl, 90, Jewell, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001 of pneumonia at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 17, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell with Rev. Craig Ause officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

Albert Julius Guhl was born Feb. 25, 1911 in Vincent to Albert H.F. and Anna Julia Wilson Guhl. He was baptized in Vincent and confirmed on May 23, 1926 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Albert was a 1931 graduate of Jewell High School. He attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On March 24, 1945 he married Dorothy Ruth Durby at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. They resided in Jewell. Albert owned and operated Guhl's Home Repair for 30 years. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 550 in Jewell.

Albert is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Jewell; two daughters, Annette Olson of Oakdale, Calif., and Gloria Guhl of Denver, Colo.; three sons, Randall Guhl, Jacksonville, Fla., Ronald Guhl of Jewell and Roger Guhl of Gahanna, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mildred Heggen, Alma Thorsbakken and Lillian Guhl all of Story City.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Otto, Clarence and George; and a sister Emma Isvik.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell and Riverside Bible Camp in Story City.
