Carmen Hill, age 64 of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth with Rev. Mike Herschberger to officiate. Burial will follow at Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Carmen Joan Westwick was born April 20, 1937 in Story City to Jesse and Hazel (Hoversten) Westwick. She was baptized and confirmed at Rose Grove Church near Williams. She attended Williams and Ellsworth schools, graduating from Ellsworth High School in 1955. On April 7, 1956 Carmen married Burnell Hill at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. After their marriage she was a homemaker on their farm north of Ellsworth. Carmen was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth where she served as a treasurer for the Trinity Lutheran Church Women and served on the Board of Deacons. She also served as secretary for the Ellsworth Alumni Association. Carmen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. She devoted her life to her family and doing things for others. She was a friend to many people.

Carmen is survived by her husband Burnell of Ellsworth; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shellane and Bob Rivera of Urbandale and Tanya and Steve Baker of Des Moines; one son, Spencer Hill of Jewell; four grandchildren, Brandon, Bobby, Stephanie and A.J.; her mother Hazel Westwick of Iowa Falls; two sisters, Marilyn Rieks of Iowa Falls and Jane Evans of Grimes; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Jesse Westwick in 1988.
