Viola Soop, 87, Tipton, a former Webster City resident, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001 at the Graceland Cemetery, with Rev. John Grebner officiating. Arrangements were made with Foster Funeral Home.

Opal Viola Smith, daughter of James and Ellen Reinhardt Smith, was born May 26, 1914 at Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City school system. On January 5, 1935 she married LeRoy Wilson Soop. The couple farmed northeast of Webster City. She had been employed at Hahne Printing and was a homemaker. Mr. Soop died January 12, 1975. She moved to Tipton in 1993.

Mrs. Soop is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Randy Hansen, granddaughter and husband, Shelly and Jason MacDonald; great-grandchildren, Keith and Jake MacDonald, all of Tipton; niece Sandra Sogard, Jewell.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marie Smith, brother Lloyd Smith.

While living in Webster City, she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
