Edna Mapel, 89, of Webster City, formerly of Lake City, died on Nov. 19, 2001 at Hamilton Hospital, Webster City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Lampe Funeral home, Lake City, Iowa, with Rev. Cindi O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Creek Cemetery near Lake City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to time of service Friday, Nov. 23.

Edna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Tom Rittscher, Webster City, grandchildren, Jill and Jon Olsen, Des Moines, Keri and Frank Rosalez Jr., Duncombe, Scott Rittscher, Ames and Paul Rittscher, Webster City, one great grandchild, Marina Rosalez, and two step great-grandchildren, Noel and Nick Rosalez. She is also survived by her brother, Homer Aegerter of Lake City, sister-in-law, Verda Aegerter of Minneapolis and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill", her parents, Emma and John Aegerter, brother Harold Aegerter and sister Fern Lange.

Edna Emma Aegerter was born Oct. 30, 1912 in Lake Creek Township, Calhoun County, Iowa, to John and Emma Aegerter. On Dec. 7, 1940 she married William Mapel. North of Lake City, the couple had dairy cows and farmed until moving to Carroll in 1988. After her husband's death in 1992, she moved to Webster City.

She served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher in the Rockwell City Methodist Church and as a teacher in the Lake City Methodist Church. She was a rural school teacher in the Calhoun County area for 10 years and a 4-H leader for the Lake Creek Go Getters. Edna enjoyed gardening, knitting, crossword puzzles and reading. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Webster City.
