Edna Viola Ratcliff, 93, Webster City, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 at Crestview Manor. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Edna Viola Rasmussen, daughter of Louis and Esther Gerardelly Rasmussen, was born Jan. 9, 1908 at Ferdinand, Idaho. In 1913, the family moved to Peace River, Alberta Canada, then to Santa Ana, Calif. In the early 1920s, the family moved to Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City Schools. On March 15, 1928, she married John William Ratcliff at Fort Dodge. The couple farmed for several years in Oak Glen and Williams areas later moving to Webster City. She was employed at Hamilton County Public Hospital for over 20 years, where she worked as a dietary aide. Mr. Ratcliff died on Sept. 15, 1985. She had been a resident at Crestview Manor for seven years.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Kay Ratcliff of Des Moines; daughter Donna Paschal of Rochester, Minn., grandchildren Matthew Paschal of Rochester, Philip Paschal of Tucson, Ariz., Larry Ratcliff of Arizona, Gloria Mjoen of Austin, Minn.; several great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lillie Kastler, Webster City; sisters-in-law Iva Rasmussen, Florida, Hazel Ratcliff, Webster City, Betty Hill of Fort Dodge, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son Maynard Ratcliff, granddaughter Raylene Hagen, brothers Charles, George and William Rasmussen, son-in-law George Paschal.

Mrs. Ratcliff attended the Church of Christ and was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
