Mavis Murphy, 74, Webster City, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001 at Crestview Manor. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. John Grebner officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the service.

Mavis Olive Dark, daughter of Nicholas and Olga Berg Dark, was born April 7, 1927 at St. Paul, Minn. She graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in St. Paul. Following high school, she was employed by the 3M Company. On January 18, 1947 she married Richard Daniel Murphy at Indianapolis, Ind. The couple lived in St. Paul until 1979 when they lived in Rockport, Texas in the winter, and Minnesota Lakes in the summer. In August 1997, the couple moved to Webster City. Mr. Murphy died on January 15, 1998.

She is survived by her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and John Mailander, Webster City, Ellen and John Harding of Sydney, Australia, and 12 nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Lutheran faith. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 900 Central Ave., Fort Dodge, Iowa 50501.
