Leonard Noe, 82, Webster City, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001 at the Hamilton Hospital. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #191. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Arrangements were made with Foster Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Leonard Glen Noe, son of Glen and Helen Dingman Noe, was born January 15, 1919 at Webster City. He attended rural schools in the Webster City area. He joined the Iowa National Guard-Red Bull Division. During W.W. II, he served with the U.S. Army - Flaming Bomb - 460th Ordnance Evacuation Company. He served in the European Theatre of Action, receiving 5 Battle Stars. On November 30, 1940 he married Dorothy June White at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. He had been employed at Shelby's Fairmont, Morton Frozen Foods and Nissen Company, from which he retired in February of 1981. After retirement, he operated a mowing, tilling and snow removal business for several years. Mrs. Noe died December 18, 1985. He had been in failing health for 7 years and had resided at Crestview Manor for five years.

Mr. Noe is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Carolyn Noe of Albert Lea, Minn., Michael Noe of Webster City; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Kevin Sogard, Webster City; grandchildren, Richard and David Noe, Susan Fisher, Matthew and Jennifer Sogard; five great-grandchildren; half-sister, Barbara Preader of Alco, Nev., sisters-in-law, Viola (Mrs. Dwayne) Miller of Clear Lake, Doris (Mrs. Elmer) White of Stratford,, Ann White of San Jacinto, Calif., Sue White of Studio City, Calif., June Kirchner of Morgan Hill, Calif., brother-in-law, Mearl B. Dixon of Sheffield; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard Dean Noe in 1961, great-granddaughter, Maggie Noe; step-father, Homer Kirchner; sisters, Isol Carlson and Dorothy Dixon; half-brothers, Robert and George Kirchner.

He was baptized in the Methodist faith. Mr. Noe was a member of the American Legion Post #191, VFW of Fort Dodge; Iowa National Guard-Webster City Company; union steward at Morton's and was past president of the Hamilton County Saddle Club. He was an accomplished equestrian and was very relaxed working in his garden. He received much pleasure being with and sharing events with his family.
