Vera Whiteley, a Jewell native, died recently in Madera, Calif. Vera was born June 24, 1927 in Jewell. She was a homemaker for 52 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Francine Trindade, Merced, Calif., sons, Douglas Whiteley of Madera and Mark Whiteley of Las Vegas, Nevada; her mother, Katie Anderson of Webster City; sisters Mary Lindquist of Webster City, Norma Beerhle of Dardenelle, Ark., and Elaine Olson of Anchorage, Ala; her brothers, Sterling Anderson of Dexter, Henry Anderson Jr. of Webster City and Franklin Anderson of Colgate, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at Cathey's Valley Cemetery in Cathey's Valley. Burial was in the Cathey's Valley Cemetery under the direction of Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home.
