Monique M. Bachelder, age 81, formerly of Camanche, IA died on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.

Monique was born April 4, 1940 in France to Laurent Risch and Marie Lovec Risch (Stanisavljevic). Monique immigrated to the U.S. with her mother, sister Violet and stepfather Mile Stanisavljevic in 1956. In Chicago Monique worked in her mother's restaurant and later at Hart Schaffner & Marx clothing factory. In 1962 Monique met and married Earl Bachelder. After living in Aurora, Illinois and Cedar Falls, Iowa, they built a house in Camanche, Iowa and raised two children, Denise Bachelder Ostrem and John Bachelder. Monique has eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

After Earl's death in 1981, Monique continued to live and work in the Camanche/Clinton/Quad Cities area until she retired. Monique moved to Jewell, Iowa in 2010.

Survivors include daughter Denise, son John, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a sister Jacqueline ould Madi in France and her sister Violet of Indiana.

Monique was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepfather and her sister Crystal.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 22, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, IA.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 28 at the Camanche Community Center.
