Kenneth P. Harfst, 69, Webster City, died Monday, August 20, 2001 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Webster City. Mr. Harfst's body was donated to the University of Iowa for medical research. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Kenneth Harfst, son of Fred and Etta Wendt Harfst, was born Oct. 30, 1931 in Easton, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. Mr. Harfst taught junior high science in Iowa Falls from 1956-1968. He served as an elementary principal with Webster City Community Schools, retiring in 1994. He married Kay Swain on June 8, 1958.

Mr. Harfst was a member and past president of the Noon Kiwanis Club, a member of SAI and First Congregational Church, where he served on various boards and committees.

Survivors are his wife, Kay; daughter, Karen Sehmann and her husband Mark of Richmond, Ky.; sons Kent and wife Becky of Webster City and Kyle and his fiance Terri Williams and her daughter Taylor, Carterville, Ill.; grandchildren, Andrew and Jenna Sehmann, Brady, Hannah and Maxwell Harfst; his mother, Etta Harfst, Webster City; brothers Richard and wife Shirley of Stockton, Calif., and Don and wife Gerri of Ankeny.
