Susan Elizabeth Essig, 90, Webster City, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Crestview Manor Care Center, where she had been a resident for the past year and nine months. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral home, Rev. Torger Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 4 p.m. Thursday until service time Friday.

Susan Elizabeth Seiser, daughter of Melchoir and Karoline (Schuler) Seiser, was born Dec. 9, 1900 in Downs, Ill. She moved to Webster City with her parents at the age of 5, and attended rural Webster City schools. She married John B. Essig on April 3, 1920 in Webster City. The couple farmed north of Webster City until 1964, when they moved to a farm south of Stanhope. They resided there until 1967, when they returned to Webster City. Mrs. Essig was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 3, 1967.

She is survived by three daughters, and a son, Dorothy Kennedy and Edward Essig, both of Fort Dodge, and Elizabeth Sue Pruismann and Alice Hayes, both of Webster City; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard in 1988, three grandchildren, her parents, six sisters and three brothers.
