Former Cresco Girl's Sudden Death.
Mrs. Wm. Bateman received word Tuesday that her daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Jones, had died suddenly at her home at Webster City, Iowa, for which place she started the next morning, accompanied by her husband and her son, Burton Witt. The news dispatches state that she was shot through the heart by a revolver in the hands of a twelve-year-old brother-in-law, to whom Mrs. Jones was showing the operation of the weapon. The deceased was married in Cresco last December.

Transcriber’s Note: Researching weddings in Howard County in 1915, it was discovered this was Myrtle.

OBITUARY.
JONES.
Myrtle Olive Witt was born in Cresco, Howard county, Ia., March 27th, 1895. When six months old she with her mother moved to Norton, Kansas, where she lived till about 9 years of age when she moved to Iowa where she has since lived.
On Nov. 6th, 1915, she was married to Charles Wilbur Jones of Webster City, Ia., Rev. J. A. Pettit of the Bap­tist Church of Cresco, Iowa, perform­ed the ceremony. She departed this life at her home in Webster City, Ia., July 25th, 1916. She leaves to mourn her loss a loving husband, of Webster City, Iowa, her mother Mrs. Wm. Bateman and little brother, Burton Witt of Cresco, Ia., and her grand­parents and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home of her husband’s mother of Web­ster City, Ia., Friday, July 28th, 9, by Rev. Stapleton of the Baptist Church
