Doris L. Bennett, 83, Webster City, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.

Doris Lillian Bennett, daughter of Charles and Hazel Warfield Mason, was born June 12, 1917 at Perry Center, New York. She received her education from the Perry Center Public Schools. During World War II, she was employed by Bell Aircraft in Buffalo, New York. On March 14, 1946 she married Relna Bennett in Perry Center. In 1947, they moved to Jewell, where the couple began farming. The couple moved off the farm and into Jewell in 1977. Mr. Bennett died Oct. 17, 1995. She then moved to Webster City.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Curt Smith, Webster City, two grandchildren, Jay Smith and Janae Smith, Webster City; two sisters, Lois Ikeler of Scottsburg, New York and Myrna Neff, Lexington, Mass.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son, Dale Bennett, and four brothers, Charles, Roger, Kenneth and Gerald Mason.

Mrs. Bennett was a member of the CIC Club and a reading and activities volunteer at Crestview Manor.
