Webster City Freeman, Webster City, Iowa, Monday, February 24, 1941

Funeral services for Mrs. Montje Wearda, 67, were held today at 1 p.m. at the home and at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran church with the Rev. W.C. Fleischer, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in Graceland cemetery, with Foster's in charge.

Mrs. Wearda leaves her husband and two sons, Edward and Harry, and two grandchildren.

She was born April 25, 1873 in St. Louis, her maiden name being Anna Wengert. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was married May 9, 1894 to Montje Wearda in Lexington, Ill., where they lived until 1907.

They then moved to Webster City and have since lived on their farm two miles south of the Catholic cemetery. She was preceded in death by a daughter in 1918, a son in 1919 and another son in 1920, all three dying during the flu epidemic.

She was seriously ill in 1907, and in 1908 underwent a major operation in Chicago. She had since recovered and had been in good health until Feb. 7, when she became will while in Webster City.

She was taken to Rochester, Minn., Wednesday and died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, death being caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. Her husband was with her.

[her maiden name is spelled incorrectly in this obituary - correct is 'Wenger']
