LaVerna Swenson, 87, Radcliffe, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Radcliffe, with Rev. Daniel Hart officiating. Burial will be in the Radcliffe Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe on Monday from 7-9 p.m.

LaVerna Swenson was born August 15, 1913, east of Williams. She was one of three children born to G.L. and Emma Gilmore Evans. She received her education by attending rural school near Wilkie, Iowa and graduated from Williams High School. On May 30, 1932 she was united in marriage to Eli Swenson at Webster City. They lived in the Ellsworth and Williams areas until 1941 when they bought their farm southeast of Williams. They lived there until November of 1978, when they moved into their newly built home in Radcliffe.

She was a member of the Harmony Club, Williams, and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe where she taught Sunday School and Bible School and held office in the Ladies Aide.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Oma and Dean Luhman, Radcliffe, son and daughter-in-law, Larry L. and LaVelle Swenson of Alden; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Ruth Swenson of Story City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Udell Evans.
