Lois Imlay, age 84, of Hubbard, IA, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, IA.

Lois (Rasmussen) Imlay was born on July 12, 1936 to Lloyd and Gertrude (Hake) Rasmussen, the middle of three children. She grew up on a farm outside Radcliffe and graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1954, where she was involved in many activities including being captain of the girls’ basketball team. After high school, she attended the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines. She set up shop in Hubbard after receiving her beautician’s license and worked and lived in Hubbard until her marriage.

Lois met her husband, Harry Imlay, on a blind date in October 1955 and they were united in marriage on August 5, 1956 at the E.U.B. Church in Radcliffe. They lived many places in Iowa over the years mainly due to Harry’s job requirements, until his death in 2016. She made each new location a home and was active in church and community activities.

Lois enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening, fishing, camping, traveling, and most of all time spent with her children and grandchildren. Everywhere Lois went, she made good friends. She was kind, unassuming, patient, and giving. Everyone who met her, loved her.

In 2004 Lois was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. She didn’t let that slow her down, facing the debilitating disease with grace and dignity.

Lois was reunited with her devoted husband of nearly 60 years on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Hubbard Care Center. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Hubbard Care Center for the loving care they provided to Lois over the last several years.

Those who remain to cherish Lois’ memory include her 5 children: Scott of Radcliffe, IA, Kristie (Bill) Conroy of Jacksonville, Fl, Lonnie (Kathleen) of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathie (Brian) St. Mary of Eden Prairie, MN, and Merrie (Jim) Frentress of Clive, IA; ten grandchildren: Bill, Patrick, Matthew, Kelsey, Hannah, Haley, Nora, Connor, Josie, and Eliza; and one great granddaughter, Camille; along with many other relatives and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry, her parents Lloyd and Gertrude, her brother Robert Rasmussen, her sister Linda Fontenot, and her grandson Jake Imlay.

Memorials contributions may be directed to the family.

Those attending are asked to wear masks and respect social distancing guidelines at both functions.
